Soooooooooo, I have seen the Rolling Stones yesterday!!!
More than I expected
To be honest, it would have never crossed my mind to go to a concert of the Rolling Stones and if it wasn’t for my dad I would have never gone. But my dad wouldn’t be my dad if he wouldn’t just drag me everywhere in order to see the all time big names in the music history (in his opinion of course). Same reason why I have seen Paul McCartney at PinkPop last year. But my oh my I’m the happiest person I have seen the Rolling Stones performing. The crowd, the graphics and of course the almost literally Rolling Stones, it was just amazing!
At first I was scared that I was going to be bored because I wouldn’t know any songs, but it just doesn’t matter. I don’t even remember if I knew the songs, I just remember it had me on the edge of my seat the whole time! It started already with the whole crowd suddenly singing ooh ooh ….. ooh ooh. Which is apparently the beginning of the song ‘Sympathy for the devil’. Man, that whole crowd starting off like that was just so amazing! It still gives me goosebumps just thinking of it.
You can’t always get what you want
A song I did know was the song ‘You can’t always get what you want’. Actually I’m listening to it while I’m writing this. The concert just opened my eyes when it comes to music. The songs touched me and the way Mick Jagger is bringing it, it’s nothing more than natural for that guy. It’s so obvious that this is what he was made for. He doesn’t show off, he is just doing what he loves.
Someone warned me before going in the Arena that the show won’t be anything like ‘Sensation White’ or ‘AMF’, even though my dad had told me a few times that the show is always amazing. And now I understand both. Of course there was no outstanding light show and dancers on the stage or anything that comes close to that. But I think this was one of the most amazing and memorable shows I’ve ever seen. Besides the performances of the Rolling Stones themselves and of course Mick Jagger in particular, the graphics on the screens behind the guys were beautiful. You had three screens and on the screens you could see live footage of the concert, but from all different angles. And with different songs the screens turned in different colors or with different filters. It suited the whole concert perfectly!
Here are my favorites of the night:
- Sympathy for the devil
- You can’t always get what you want
- Paint it black
- Miss you
Have you ever seen the Rolling Stones? If you did, what did you think?
